A typical week of mine | Hồ Minh Châu

Every weekday morning, my alarm goes off at 7.30 am in the morning. It’s quite late because my school starts in the afternoon. Moreover, I’m a night owl so I prefer to do my work the previous evening instead of waiting until the next morning.

My morning routine is very simple. After getting up, I go to the bathroom and have personal hygiene quickly by washing up and brushing my teeth. However, if the weather is hot, I’d like to take a shower early in the morning. After that, I go downstairs and have breakfast with my mom. My school life is quite pressured so after having breakfast, I go upstairs again and start doing my homework and preparing for my lessons in the afternoon.

My school finishes at 5.15 pm. My mom usually picks me up because she also finishes her work at the same time. I sometimes help her with house chores when I have no extra classes to go to. In my family, every member shares the housework equally.

I prefer to relax after having dinner to do my homework immediately. I always try to balance my work and fun so hardly do I feel pressure except days of exams. Therefore, I usually watch TV together with my family. Before going to bed at about 11.30 pm, I do my homework. Another reason that I have said earlier is that I’m a night owl. I cannot sleep when it’s just around 9 or 10 pm.

On the weekend, I try to keep myself away from books and notes.  I have been working hard all weekdays so why can’t I give myself a day off? And then my following week can start in a much more productive way.

My trip to Hue | Tran Xuan Bao Phuc

Recently, I visited my hometown in Hue. It was a great opportunity since I wanted to learn more about Hue and visit my grandma.    After the bus had taken me to the wrong place, my dad took me back home and I had dinner. Then I played games on my computer while my dad was preparing for the trip. The next day, my dad took me to Dai Noi. It was a large flat ground with a lot of grass of course. We did some exercises and I asked some questions about Dai Noi. My dad answered all the questions then we had some breakfast and went back home. While I was playing games on my computer, my dad did some cooking, he planned to go to the beach in the afternoon. Later in the afternoon, I and my dad went to the beach and then enjoyed the wind and we swam through the wave. After we went back home, my dad planned to go to the mountain for swimming in the stream. The next day, I and my dad went to a restaurant at a stream. We swam there and had a nice meal. After that...

Make Your Bed and Change the World!

I. Read the following lesson of Admiral William McRaven: Do you want to change your life and change the world to make it a better place? William McRaven is an admiral in the United States Navy and he has some good ideas about how to do this. He says don’t be afraid to try new things that are difficult. Also, he says never give up, never quit when something is difficult. Many people agree that these are very good ideas.  But, Admiral McRaven also has another idea. His idea is very different. He says that you must make your bed every morning to change the world. He gives two reasons for this. First, after you make your bed you will want to do more work, and then more work … and then more work. This is important because you must do lots of work when you want to change the world. Second, sometimes work or school is not easy and you will feel bad – but when you come home and see a beautiful bed, you will feel happy. Then, when you are happy, you will not be afraid to try difficult thing...
