The Wrong Bus by Truong Vinh Son

Last week, I went to Dong Ha City with some friends. We went by bus and we wanted to go to the supermarket. But it was already lunchtime, and we had been feeling very hungry. So Bach, my friend, said, “ After getting off the bus, we can eat near the supermarket”. We agreed with his opinion.

At first, we were very upset because we were hungry and the weather was very hot. We had been waiting for the bus for 30 minutes before it came. The bus we needed was number 19. Then we boarded bus number 29. Ten minutes later, we knew we got on the wrong bus.

We were very alarmed about this. We asked the driver for the destination of this bus. He told that its destination was a hospital. We had to get off the bus and we waited for another one. The weather became rainy and it was windy. We took shelter from the rain under the bus stop.

Luckily, bus number 20 approached. Its driver said he was going to the supermarket. We were very happy. I thought It was an interesting trip.

Make Your Bed and Change the World!

I. Read the following lesson of Admiral William McRaven: Do you want to change your life and change the world to make it a better place? William McRaven is an admiral in the United States Navy and he has some good ideas about how to do this. He says don’t be afraid to try new things that are difficult. Also, he says never give up, never quit when something is difficult. Many people agree that these are very good ideas.  But, Admiral McRaven also has another idea. His idea is very different. He says that you must make your bed every morning to change the world. He gives two reasons for this. First, after you make your bed you will want to do more work, and then more work … and then more work. This is important because you must do lots of work when you want to change the world. Second, sometimes work or school is not easy and you will feel bad – but when you come home and see a beautiful bed, you will feel happy. Then, when you are happy, you will not be afraid to try difficult thing...

A typical week of mine | Hồ Minh Châu

Every weekday morning, my alarm goes off at 7.30 am in the morning. It’s quite late because my school starts in the afternoon. Moreover, I’m a night owl so I prefer to do my work the previous evening instead of waiting until the next morning. My morning routine is very simple. After getting up, I go to the bathroom and have personal hygiene quickly by washing up and brushing my teeth. However, if the weather is hot, I’d like to take a shower early in the morning. After that, I go downstairs and have breakfast with my mom. My school life is quite pressured so after having breakfast, I go upstairs again and start doing my homework and preparing for my lessons in the afternoon. My school finishes at 5.15 pm. My mom usually picks me up because she also finishes her work at the same time. I sometimes help her with house chores when I have no extra classes to go to. In my family, every member shares the housework equally. I prefer to relax after having dinner to do my homework immediat...

Practicing the three Rs to help the environment

An essay by Lê Khánh Linh   Vietnam is a developing country at the present time. Therefore, everything is being industrialized and I can say that a lot of factories have been built and set up in Vietnam. This has resulted in water and air pollution which is considered a serious problem right now. I think everyone is responsible for the environment. So, I recommend everyone to apply the three Rs: reuse, reduce, and recycle to help make the environment much cleaner. For example, people can try to avoid using single-use products like plastic bottles, plastic bags, and plastic rice boxes and take away boxes. Instead, they can buy their own bottles, they can buy their own boxes, and carry them around. Doing so will help reduce a lot of plastic consumption in cities. Secondly, people should not throw garbage all over the place. They can actually either put them into the proper bin or bring the trash back home with them. These are some ways to protect our environment. I hope everyone will...
